Phil Gaimon is known for his love of, and the never-ending search for, the best chocolate chip cookie. He’s also known for his inspiring story of beating childhood obesity and becoming a professional cyclist. Because of his advocacy for living a healthy lifestyle, he was a perfect fit to play a role in Optum Pro Cycling’s Human-Powered Health (HPH) campaign when he became a member of the 2015 team. For that year’s Amgen Tour of California bike race, I illustrated and designed a custom cookie-themed team bike for him to ride during the race. The two slogans “Earn Your Cookies” and “The More You Ride, The More Calories You Can Get Away With” that were included in the bike’s design referenced the team’s short HPH film, “Calories.”  The bike was auctioned at the race’s conclusion to benefit the United Health Care Children’s Fund (UHCCF).
